Using Panic Probe
This is a harmless voice-trigger experiment, not emergency protection. It cannot call 911, contact anyone, send an alert, record audio or get your location. Test only in a safe setting and keep your normal way of obtaining help available.
Set up and try one trial
Choose a non-sensitive word containing 2–30 letters. Complete Apple's Vocal Shortcuts training in Settings using Record test trigger. If the direct action is absent, follow the app's one-action shortcut fallback, Voice Probe Log. Do not add calls, messages, Siri Request or Open App to that test shortcut. Return and confirm system setup only after doing it.
Start the 60-minute trial, lock the phone and keep Face ID from unlocking it. Speak once without touching the phone. Unlock afterward and return to inspect the receipt. Save a successful trial only if it was actually spoken while locked and required no unlock or other interaction. A manual tap is not a voice test; choose Something didn't work to report that result.
One event can be accepted per armed trial. Later attempts are duplicates until you start another trial. Disarmed or expired attempts are rejected. An accepted receipt proves only that the local action ran; your separate answers describe what happened on the phone. It does not certify reliability.
Ending or troubleshooting
End the trial in the app, then turn off or remove its separate Apple Vocal Shortcut in Settings. Changing the word in Panic Probe does not retrain Apple or remove an old binding. After restarting the phone, unlock it once before experimenting. If storage cannot be read, readiness is not confirmed and existing records are preserved; do not delete them merely to clear an error.
There is no export/restore feature. The private state is excluded from automatic backup; at most 64 recent receipts are retained. Deleting the app can remove its state. Offloading can retain it. Deleting the app is not a substitute for checking Apple's separate listener settings.
Feedback
Email help@steelyardventures.com or use TestFlight feedback. Include device model, iOS/build, the exact visible error and whether you spoke or manually ran the shortcut. Do not send your chosen word, audio, location, credentials or identity documents. No background monitoring or response-time promise is offered. Read Privacy and Use & safety in the app for the applicable data and usage limits.
