Panic Probe beta privacy information

Updated October 13, 2026 · Steelyard Ventures LLC · Version 0.1.0

This document describes the current harmless TestFlight candidate. It is available inside the app for review. A saved local policy is not a claim that a public policy website has been published.

Panic Probe helps you configure and try Apple's voice-trigger features using a local test action. It is not an emergency, monitoring or dispatch service. It cannot contact people or obtain help.

The app keeps your selected test word, setup progress, practice-session times, your reported trial result and recent action receipts on your device. It stores no audio or voice model. Your word is a setup reminder, not an authentication secret. Use a non-sensitive word; do not enter passwords or personal information.

This data is stored in the app's private Application Support folder, marked as excluded from automatic backup and protected using Apple's file protection. After a phone restart, the phone must be unlocked once before this experiment. The app retains at most 64 recent action receipts. It retains the current setup and trial state until changed or the app is deleted. Offloading the app is different from deleting it and can retain its data. Changing the word invalidates setup and trial completion but does not delete earlier receipts.

The app contains no account system, developer analytics, advertising SDK, cloud sync or network endpoint. It does not access your microphone, recordings, location, contacts, calls or messages. It does not send the selected word or receipts to Steelyard. TestFlight automatically collects crash logs and usage data for Apple and the developer; testers cannot opt out of this beta-testing data collection. You may separately submit feedback or screenshots. Reports can contain device identifiers and personal information. This is separate from the app’s local probe records. Deleting the app does not delete reports already submitted. Request deletion of developer-held correspondence or feedback at the support address; Apple handles its own records. See https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/testflight/sren/terms.html .

Apple's Vocal Shortcuts is a separate system feature. You train and enable it in Settings. Apple controls its microphone use and system indicators. Panic Probe cannot inspect its configured word, train it automatically, or switch its listening off. Cancelling or finishing a trial disarms this app's recorder; to stop Apple's listener, turn off or remove the Vocal Shortcut in Settings separately.

An accepted action receipt only means the app recorded a local event. It does not prove the word was spoken, the phone was locked, someone was notified or help was requested. The completed-trial label combines that receipt with your own answers; it is not automatic verification or a safety guarantee.

For help or privacy questions, email help@steelyardventures.com. We receive the message, return address and any attachments you choose to send and use them to respond. Do not send your private test word, audio, precise location, credentials or identity documents. You can request deletion of support correspondence separately; deleting the app does not delete email already sent. No fixed automatic email-deletion period is promised.
